Low Carbon City Framework
The Task Force of Low Carbon Green City of Petaling Jaya was established on 14 December 2010 with a mission to establish strategies for carbon reduction in the city.
Rainwater Harvesting System (SPAH)
SPAH is one of the concepts in rainwater conservation that can save tap water utilization; is implemented in residential buildings that use tanks for water storage. Rainwater will be collected in the tank on their roof top and function as permanent water source.
Rebate Scheme for Environmental Friendly House Owner
The project encourages property owner to retrofit their dwelling and change their behavioral lifestyle in line with low carbon practice. In return, they will obtain monetary reward as an incentive and this project is a pioneer initiative in Malaysia and has won international recognition – Green Apple Award.
Car Free Day
Is a joint initiative of the Council targeted to implement the Green Neighbourhood and promote a healthy and safe lifestyle through the programme which is a day without motor vehicles. To give exposure to the population about the importance of protecting the environment through cycling to reduce excessive vehicle emissions.
Electricity Conservation Programme
The Petaling Jaya City Council (MBPJ) has introduced a free LEDs installation at the residential back alley in the whole of Petaling Jaya. From the studies conducted, there was a significant reduction of 70% or 56.94kW per annum for each house with LEDs as compared to188.34 kW per annum with conventional lightings.

Petaling Jaya aims to achieve a vibrant and prosperous economy through innovative industries, leading educational and research centres, major retail and hotel networking and human resource module, attractive to international and local investments.
Section 13 Special Area Plan
Section 13 Special Area Plan (RKK) consist of the 259.20 acres of the entire industrial area of Section 13, Petaling Jaya. The objective of the development is to enhance the physical environment and transform Section 13 into a commercial hub that provide a high service level.
Re-zoning of residential area for Limited Businesses
Permissible locations are detached houses alongside several roads which includes Jalan SS2/24 (partially), Jalan Universiti (partially), Jalan Utara (partially), Lorong Utara, Jalan Kemajuan, Jalan Timur (partially), Jalan Gasing, Jalan Selangor (partially), Jalan Othman (partially), Jalan Penchala (partially), Jalan Pasar, Terrace houses located in between Jalan 14/20 and 14/24, Terrace houses located in between 14/14 and 14/20, Jalan Dato’ Abu Bakar, Jalan SS /24 (partially), Jalan 20/7 (partially), Jalan 21/1 (partially) and Jalan SS 21/1. Permissible business activities are Art gallery, Show room (except automotive), Old folks home, Agencies (news, travel, advertising, communications and marketing), NGO related administration office, Real estate agents, Legal services, Accounting services, Data processing services, Consultancy services – engineering, planning, architecture, interior design and other technical services.
Single Mother Programme (HEWA)
HEWA Programmes were carried out since 2002. There are 51 active members of HEWA and various activities were planned and implemented to help this minority group to be independent and simultaneously generate additional income for the family through the said programmes.Workshop for yellow noodle making, programme for frozen food production and workshop for chocolate gift production.
Urban Poverty Eradication Programme (PKB)
As of October 2014, there were 937 low income families registered with Petaling Jaya City Council based on the Poverty Line Index (PGK) with income of RM 1,500 and below. Various programmes were carried out to assist the families to generate additional income. Some of the organized programmes are Costume Jewellery Making Course,Puff Pastry Baking Course, Shoe Repair Course, Recycle Bag Making Course and Painting Glass Production Course.

PJ City Food Bank
MBPJ will receive supplies from various food sources such as local factories, supermarkets, bakeries, hotels, and restaurants.These food supplies will then transported to the residents in need, including Orphan houses, Old folks houses, and homes for the disabled.
PJ City Food Bank operates at: A-G-10, Tingkat Bawah, Blok A, Pusat Perniagaan Seksyen 8 (8th Avenue), Jalan Sungai Jerneh 8/1, Seksyen 8, Petaling Jaya, Selangor Darul Ehsan.

Neighbourhood Safety Team Petaling Jaya (PKKPJ)
This programme has been implemented since 2011 and was established to encourage the set up and to activate voluntary security at local neighbourhood areas. MBPJ was also the first local authorities (PBT) to initiate this safety programme with RM 5,000,000 annual allocation to resident associations and neighbourhood watch to activate the security at the their respective neighbourhood areas.
Community Wellbeing Programme (SEJATI)
Community Wellbeing Programme or better known as SEJATI Programme is a comprehensive effort to provide assistance to the the poor, disabled individuals and senor citizens. Amongst the assistance provided were Disabled Transit Vehicle, Community Bus, Mobile Community Clinic, other facilities for the disabled consist of shaded car parking for the disabled, ramp, tactile and disabled special toilets to encourage the said categories to enjoy a better quality life.

ICT Strategic Plan
ICTMBPJ Strategic Plan is a blueprint for the Petaling Jaya City Council to develop and optimize the ICT application to achieve it’s direction and strategic objectives. The strategic plan needs to be monitored from time to time and periodically being re-evaluated to ensure it stays relevant and align with the direction and changes in business environment of the Petaling Jaya City Council Administration.
Free Wifi Services
Petaling Jaya City Council (MBPJ) is one of the local authorities in Selangor that provide free wifi infrastructure services at Council’s premises since 2005 in several phases, in accordance with the government’s free wifi services development projects by the State of Selangor for the people of Selangor. The State of Selangor also provide free wifi services for the people in Petaling Jaya in several phases from time to time and those locations can be viewed via the MBPJ’s official website www.mbpj.gov.my
Online Services (e-OSC, e-payment and others)
Other than ePay@MBPJ which offer various online payment transaction services. Through the MBPJ website, visitors can verify compound summonses, lodge complaints, review complaints status, check payment status to the contractors, online application for various types of license, OSC application and processing, external e-advertisement application, PJGIS services, access to the Petaling Jaya Community Library collection and Rakan Muda Online. All these online services are made available to facilitate MBPJ’s customers to get in touch with MBPJ by providing alternative avenues for them to do so. Business License Application
Business License is a control measure tool for a local authority. Each business premise license owner is responsible to apply the business license and the local authority is deemed responsible to ensure that all business premise are licensed. In achieving this objective, MBPJ has implemented several initiatives public involving public participation including the introduction of premise’s sticker with QR code in 2013 that was hoped to serve as a mechanism to the enforcers and public to know whether the premise is licensed to conduct business activities.
Friendship City Programme
Friendship City Program is the approach and current practice to promote sharing of knowledge and best practices to maximize the potential of Petaling Jaya as a city. To clarify, there are two types of intercity programs, Friendship City is for per project basis whilst Sister City is a long term and more holistic relationship program between two cities. Either one has made MBPJ recognized that this program is essential to help accelerate it’s growth and of participating cities in various fields.
